The Word of Faith movement has nothing to do with Romans 10:8:
"But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach."
The Word of Faith movement has strayed far from the Truth and is teaching heresy.
The most important doctrine of the Word of God, the deity of Christ, is compromised in the Word of Faith movement. Observe the blasphemy:
Benny Hinn has written: "Had the Holy Spirit not been with Jesus, He would have sinned. That's right, it was the Holy Spirit that was the power that kept Him pure. He was not only sent from heaven, but He was called the Son of Man---and as such He was capable of sinning...Without the Holy Ghost, Jesus would have never have made it." (Good Morning, Holy Spirit, Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1990, pp. 135-36)
Frederick K.C. Price, another Word-Faith heretic, said: "Jesus was on the earth just a man, not the son of God" (Tape #RP 19, May 1993).
Kenneth Copeland, in relating what Christ supposedly told him, says, "don't be disturbed when people accuse you of thinking you are God ... the more you get to be like Me, the more they are going to think that way of you. They crucified Me for claiming that I was God. But I didn't claim I was God. I just claimed I walked with Him and that He was with Me" ("Take Time to Pray," Believer's Voice of Victory, #15, 2 February 1987, p. 9).
More blasphemy from Kenneth Copeland: "You don't have a god in you, you are one." ("The Force Of Love" tape #02-0028)
"Pray to yourself, because I'm in your self and you're in Myself. We are one Spirit, saith the Lord." ("Believer's Voice of Victory", Feb. 1987, p. 9)
"When I read in the Bible where [Jesus] says, 'I Am,' I just smile and say, 'Yes, I Am, too!'" ("Believer's Voice of Victory" broadcast on TBN, recorded 7/9/87)
And Kenneth Hagin says, "You are as much the incarnation of God as Jesus Christ was" (The Word of Faith, December 1980, p. 14).
Is that your Jesus? If so you need to be born again, because no one believing such heresy can be saved.
"For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist. Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds." (2 John 7-11)
What is the doctrine of Christ? It is the doctrine of who Christ is. And who is He? Christ is not a created being! He is eternal, the only begotten Son, and the only incarnation of God (John 1:1-2, 1:14, 1:18, 3:16, 3:18; 1 John 4:9)! "For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily." (Col 2:9) By receiving the limitations of humanity (Phil 2:6-7) Jesus forwent the exercise of some of His prerogatives as God, but He did not cease to be God. The Lord Jesus Christ "knew no sin" (2 Cor 5:21) and "did no sin" (1 Pet 2:22). Why? Because He is God!!!
"And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin." (1 John 3:5)
Man is unique from the rest of Creation, but is not Divine. He was created in the image of God (Gen 1:26-27; 9:6), but bearing God's image does not make him a "little god." By definition, God is an "uncreated," a one of a kind self-existent Being. Obviously, humans were created and therefore are not self-existent or divine; only God has a divine nature (Isa 43:10, 44:6; Ezek 28:2). That men can be as God is a lie of Satan (Gen 3:4-5; Isa 14:12-14)!
In your last e-mail you also said, "I can back down on arguing with the brethren; for the LORD has called us (Christians) into unity of the faith not doctrines!" That's ecumenical humbo jumbo! Judging from that statement, I guess we can cut these verses out of the Bible then: Matthew 28:20, Acts 2:42, Romans 6:17, 16:17, 1 Timothy 4:6, 4:13, 4:16, 5:17, 2 Timothy 3:16, 4:2, Titus 1:9, 2:1, 2:7, 2:10, 2 John 9, et. al.
"Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand
doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the
breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept;
line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little."
(Isa 28:9-10)
"To the Law and to the Testimony: if they speak not according to
this Word, it is because there is no light in them." (Isa
8:20)
Do you really believe doctrine does not matter?
"Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." (2 Cor 6:14-18)
"We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby know we the spirit of Truth, and the spirit of error." (1 John 4:6)
The Bible teaches that if you are a born again believer that "... thou
oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church
of the living God, the pillar and ground of the Truth" (1 Tim 3:15),
and that you "... should earnestly contend for the Faith which was once
delivered unto the saints" (Jude 3), rather than join up with heretics!
